Attention to all bloggers, if you found that your blog do not have a chatbox or tagboard, then probably, your blog may be not good enough! This is because a chatbox on your blog will be the most direct tool for readers to leave their footstep, just speak out a words and chatting with other users!
You readers do not need to sign up or read any post to drop a message. Maybe to some of them, leaving a comment is inconvenience compared to leaving a message on chatbox or tagboard!
If your blog dont have one, probably you need to get one immediately! And remember, this service is basically FREE and if you pay for it, you will have more control on your chatbox!
Currently, there are two major shoutbox service that almost every blogger are using, one is more popular one, Cbox, and one more that maybe most of them havent discover the service yet is ShoutMix.
If you are still using Cbox now, please continue reading and i will tell you plenty reasons to change from Cbox to ShoutMix!
Well, every service will have their pros and cons, lets see!
When firstly i started to blog, i use cbox instead of shoutmix! But after that i found that there are readers spamming my chatbox with those dirty words, links to porn sites and use my name to post up unproper messages. I have no idea how to overcome it! Cos it almost post those things everyday.For this case, lets see what cbox and shoutmix will do!
Cbox
Only can delete messages at the admin page which means you need to login to their site and need to check and delete it!
There are NO identical diffrence between an admin posting up a message and somebody else posting up the message!
BUT Cbox enable you to view the complete ip address of who is posting up the message and ban the specific IP address from posting for a certain period! [but this will not be too useful as most of the user use dynamic IP and the ip address will change after they reconnect!]
ShoutMix
You can sign in to your own shoutbox and start deleting message and as well as!
And you can also view the complete IP but… you cannot ban it! Its only for premium users!
There are identical diffrences between an admin’s message and others msgs!

So if things like i mentioned above happend, i think Shoutbox will win if compared to Cbox.
This is because although Cbox got the function to ban certain IP, but there will be no use if the spammer are using dynamic IP as most streamyx users are using that! So, immediate delete of those msg are most effective! Anyway, for me, viewing commentor’s IP have no help for me in inspecting spammers! I dunno!
Cbox and Shoutmix DO have their ads for free users!
BUT the diffrence is Cbox DO have pop-up ads which appear randomly when you click on the Cbox and you wish to leave a msg! And ShoutMix is stated that they DO NOT have any pop-up ads on their features page! And i didnt face any pop-up ads from ShoutMix but im facing tons of Cbox pop-up ads EVERYDAY!
When i want to leave a msg on Cbox, i will need to re-enter my name, url, after that only start typing my msg! But when i leave msg on ShoutMix, i dont need to do so if i had done it on other shoutmix chatbox before!
So, this again will be a big advantage for those who are using ShoutMix as their chatbox, readers do not need to enter their name and url everytime they want to leave a msg!
One more things is about you want to view msgs that are older, for Cbox, you need to click on the older messages there and a pop-up will appear, and you will read the older msgs from there! Where for ShoutMix, you just need to click on Next and Previous button and you can continue leave msgs since all the msgs appear still in the same place, inside the chatbox! This will be more user-friendly and again ShoutMix win the match!
And one minor feature is ShoutMix have a wider Basic profanity filter if compared to Cbox! Agree?
You will have a wider choice on customizing your chatbox with ShoutMix, various style available and easy for diffrent blog template! And Cbox didnt have much choise so you will see there will be all the same Cbox around but not ShoutMix! Haha! Check it out on their(ShoutMix) website!
So, decided to change your cbox to shoutmix? Or Change your ShoutMix to Cbox?
Or still want to stick to cbox for a specific reason or advantage which i dont know?

err, i think, we can add unlimited emoticons in cbox… and that’s for free users too… in shoutmix, for free users, we only can add 10 emoticons.. ^^ nice website, and really like the template you had…

i used to use cbox too, but because of the popups i changed to shoutmix. but one thing i liked about cbox is that it looks more simple and straightforward. and it is more space-efficient too. but nevertheless shoutmix is still good.
it has cool options too, like the word to replace name, website, refresh, shout, etc…

i use shoutmix because of the admin panel, refresh message faster than cbox, no annoying popup, and the ability not having to type our name/url again n again. besides, shoutmix is from MALAYSIA!
unfortunately, the smiley feature is limited to 10 only for shoutmix but i’m cool with that. who needs to many smileys inside shoutbox right? 10 is just nice

if spesific url is post, you can ban that url or the user ip also.
and the one stupid way is delete and delete and delete…

Maybe it’s because the shouts need not be moderated in a shoutbox. Or maybe because bots can hack into a shoutbox more easily than a comment post.
I am testing the first theory right now by allowing unmoderated comments on my site. Let’s see how things go for the next 2 weeks….
I am actually quite hesitant to put a shoutbox up because of this

I am using Cbox for 3 months now. The is a spammer who stalks the box. He uses dymamic ip`s and even proxies.
Not even a nerd .. with all hidding ip software is not so hard afcourse… I have tried to ban this spammer to no avil using cbox ban system… i send 3 emails and no response from support. When the spammer is posting with proxy i can not view the messages because cbox don`t recognize ip and no message are shown in admin are so no way to delete the spam…i haven`t tested Shoutmix but Cbox will be remove from my site very soon…
